• Application Window: February 1 2026, to April 30, 2026, for the 2027 intake. The next cycle opens in early February 2027.

Must be contractually committed to returning home post-study for at least 2 years after graduation to apply for further courses or jobs locally. The Gould Experimental Science Grant is an AU$10,000 scholarship initiated by Dr Ian Gould to support graduate research students who are inclined to undertake experimental, data-driven research. In addition to this grant, there’s a Gould Experimental Science Encouragement Prize, which is an added financial support for graduate students to strengthen their specific medical or scientific research database.

Factors such as completion of a degree at the same level of the research course for which the scholarship is sought, relevant professional experience, refereed publications, specialist medical qualifications or composition of original music may be taken into consideration.

Tasmania Graduate Research Scholarship (TGRS) 

A fully funded scholarship in Australia for domestic and international students, TGRS is a premier, merit-based scholarship for students pursuing a Master’s by Research or a PhD. 

• What it Covers: The TGRS covers: AU$34,315 per year as a living stipend, which is completely tax-exempt for full-time students. Plus, it covers AU$2000  to assist with relocation. When it comes to the tuition fees, domestic students get full coverage, while international students get a University of Tasmania fee offset. 

• Application Window: The annual application round closes by late September or early October. 

• Eligibility: Students must have completed at least 4 years of tertiary education. PhD students require an upper second-class honours degree. Master’s applications require a second-class degree. Charles Darwin University Global Merit Scholarship

The CDU Global Merit Scholarship is available to new international TAFE, Undergraduate, Postgraduate (Coursework), and Higher Degree by Research students who meet the academic criteria at Charles Darwin University (CDU), Australia and commence in 2026. No application is required. Applicants are automatically assessed after submitting their application for an eligible course.

• What it Covers: The scholarship applies to the CDU course and covers 30% of the tuition fee for select courses. However, a significant 25% to 50% direct reduction of the tuition fees is applicable for the standard duration of your research degree.

D — Australian University Scholarships for Undergraduate International Students 

SCU International Regional Scholarship 

Southern Cross Global Regional Scholarship supports undergraduate or postgraduate international students studying at our Lismore and Coffs Harbour campuses at Southern Cross University.

• What it Covers: An upfront AU$8,000 fee reduction per year for the duration of your program.

• Application Window: Assessed automatically alongside your standard international application processes throughout 2026 and 2027. 

• Eligibility: Must apply for a UG or PG degree at either Lismore, Coffs Harbour, or the National Marine Science Centre campus. Must meet the admission entry requirements of the program you have applied for. Students must meet the attendance requirements of their program and visa conditions to remain eligible for the scholarship. Students who are Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents, or New Zealand citizens are not eligible to apply.

Griffith Remarkable Scholarship 

A merit-based award, the Griffith Remarkable Scholarship is designed to help exceptional international students who wish to pursue UG and PG courses at Griffith University in Queensland, Australia. You will be evaluated by a university panel based on your academic profile and a written personal statement (SOP).

• What it Covers: The award covers a 50% tuition fee reduction for the entire duration of the chosen program (3-4 years for UG and 1-2 years for PG). However, here’s an important point to note. You are required to pay the initial fees in full, and the scholarship value will be credited to your account after the program begins. 

• Application Window: Multiple application windows are open throughout the year, with key cut-offs in April, August, and November. 

• Eligibility: Must be a citizen of a country other than Australia and New Zealand. Must have a minimum GPA of 5.5 on a 7-point scale. Deakin International Scholarship

However, the most notable ones are the Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship and the Deakin International Scholarship. The former covers 50% to 100% of tuition fees, while the latter covers 20% tuition fees for the whole duration of the course. 

• What it Covers: The Deakin International Scholarship covers 20% tuition fees for the duration of your degree. Since it is a merit-based award, you will be automatically evaluated based on your academic transcripts after the assessment of your course. 

• Application Window: The application must be formally submitted at least 6 weeks before the start of the targeted trimester intake. 

• Eligibility: International students who have scored a minimum of 65% and, for Indian citizens, a minimum of 60% in their previous courses, and have not accepted any other Deakin award. 

La Trobe University Scholarships 

La Trobe University has a big pool of over 3,000 scholarships annually for domestic and international students. The awards range from 15% to 100% off tuition fees, along with a generous tax-free stipend of AU$36,000 per year. The best part? No application needed. They offer these scholarships based on academic achievement to students commencing their UG studies in Semester 1 each year. 

• What it Covers: If you apply for the Vice-Chancellor Scholarship, it covers up to 100% of annual tuition fees for the whole duration. It covers a fee reduction of 15% to 25% if you apply for the La Trobe College Excellence Scholarship. The research-led awards like the RTP or the LTGRS offer a stipend of AU$36,000 per year and include a tuition fee waiver up to 4 years for PhD, 2 years for PG, along with thesis and relocation allowances.
