Aberystwyth University is a Welsh public research university located in the town of Aberystwyth. Aberystwyth was one of the original founding members of the erstwhile federal University of Wales. Over 8,000 students are enrolled in the university's three academic faculties and 17 departments. It is the second longest funicular railway in the British Isles, behind the Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway, with a length of 778 feet (237 metres).
