Cancellation Policy

We will release you from the tenancy agreement only if you have failed to obtain the required qualifications to get into your first University of choice, in any other circumstance the student and guarantor (if applicable) will be held to tenancy.

Once the tenancy has been accepted the tenancy cannot be cancelled and both tenant and guarantor (if applicable) will remain fully responsible for any payments due under the tenancy and rent will continue to be payable up to the end of the tenancy agreement.

Bauhaus Student may consider releasing your from the obligations of the tenancy in the situation that you find an alternative student to take over your room. In this instance you must inform Bauhaus Student as soon as possible and we reserve the right not to accept any nominated replacement. (A release charge will apply).

When can I book my accommodation?

If you are a first-year you can book your accommodation when you have accepted your offer from your first-choice university, if you are returning to university for a later year then you can book your accommodation at any time.

What if I have a disability or special requirements?

Bauhaus Student top priority is making sure you have a comfortable and safe stay, so please declare any medical information or disabilities on your application.

Bauhaus Student properties offer rooms types with additional and accessible facilities. When creating your application, please make sure you tick the ‘DDA’ box and enter in as much detail as possible so our teams can ensure you reserve the most suitable Roost for your requirements.

When will I get my deposit back?

Your deposit will be returned to you after your tenancy end date, based on a successful check-out inspection (i.e. no damage or cleanliness related issues). In the meantime, your deposit will be held securely by My Deposit Scotland.

When rent is due, does it come out as a direct debit?

Single 100% payment due 14 days before the tenancy start date
1st payment of 50% due 14 days before the tenancy start date; 2nd payment of 50% due on 1st December
1st payment of 25% due 14 days before the tenancy start date; 2nd payment of 25% due on 1st December; 3rd payment of 25% due on 1st of February; 4th payment of 25% due on 1st May.

Do we need to provide a TV License?

We do not provide any TV Licenses for the studios or shared flats so you’ll need to register for your own TV licence.

What is a guarantor?

A guarantor is a nominated person who accepts the tenancy alongside the tenant and guarantees to pay rent or any other monies owing on behalf of the tenant.

Students choosing to pay rent in installments must provide a guarantor. A guarantor must be a permanent UK resident, employed and have no record of CCJs or Court Orders.

Bauhaus Student reserves the right to decline a guarantor if they are not deemed suitable. In this situation the resident will be requested to provide an alternative guarantor or pay all of their rent in full prior to the tenancy start date.

How do I prove I am exempt from Council Tax when I move into St Andrew Street, Aberdeen?

Full-time students in the UK are exempt from Council Tax while staying at St Andrew Street, Aberdeen. Council Tax is usually already exempt and included in your rent. If required, you can download a Council Tax Exemption Certificate from your university and submit it to your local council.
