Australia is a vast country, just marginally smaller than the U.S. mainland. So it really shouldn’t be shocking that some of the unique locations and creatures in the world will also be home to a country this large. Ayers Rock and the Sydney Opera House are among the many famous places and tourist hotspots in Australia that you can tour. While these spots are quite full of tourists, there are a number of best tourist places in Australia that aren’t as popular but are just as impressive.

Major tourist places in Australia are unique. The Blue Mountains National Park is situated about 80 km (50 miles) west of Sydney, in New South Wales. The proximity to Australia’s biggest city has made this scenic park a popular day trip for visitors as well as locals alike. A rock formation that towers 900 meters (3000 feet) above the Jamison Valley, the park is perhaps better known for the Three Sisters. There are miles of trails for hikers and mountain bikers in the Blue Mountains National Park, and it is also a popular natural playground for explorers who love adrenaline sports such as rock climbing and abseiling. Visitors who want a more tame way of exploring the Blue Mountains National Park will climb onto the Katoomba Scenic Railway’s glass-roofed carriages, which is the world’s steepest passenger railway.
