Australia is a vast country, just marginally smaller than the U.S. mainland. So it really shouldn’t be shocking that some of the unique locations and creatures in the world will also be home to a country this large. Ayers Rock and the Sydney Opera House are among the many famous places and tourist hotspots in Australia that you can tour. While these spots are quite full of tourists, there are a number of best tourist places in Australia that aren’t as popular but are just as impressive.

Uluru/Ayers Rock | Tourist Hotspots In Australia

Ayers Rock, one of the top tourist hotspots in Australia and the largest monolith, is now one of the famous places in Australia. Located within the Northern Territory’s Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, this large sandstone formation is more than 340 meters (1,100 feet) high. One of the particularities of the rock is that it switches colours drastically from terra cotta to blue, violet, and red at sunset. Described as Anangu, the local Aboriginal tribe names the rock Uluru and considers it a holy site.

Whitsunday Islands

In the centre of Australia’s Great Barrier Reef which is one of the top tourist hotspots in Australia, this incredible set of 74 islands makes them a fantastic jumping-off point for travellers looking to discover the amazing and vibrant aquatic life that lives in the waters of this country. While most of the Whitsunday Islands are abandoned, seven, including the world-famous One&Only on Hayman Island, a favourite of celebrities and the rich and famous, have excellent resorts on them. Whitehaven Beach, which features blinding white sands, is one of the most stunning Whitsunday Islands. For travellers wanting a blissful holiday on a lovely tropical island or for those who enjoy hours of snorkelling and scuba diving, these islands are the ideal alternative. Whitsunday Islands is one of the cool tourist places in Australia.

Blue Mountains National Park

Major tourist places in Australia are unique. The Blue Mountains National Park is situated about 80 km (50 miles) west of Sydney, in New South Wales. The proximity to Australia’s biggest city has made this scenic park a popular day trip for visitors as well as locals alike. A rock formation that towers 900 meters (3000 feet) above the Jamison Valley, the park is perhaps better known for the Three Sisters. There are miles of trails for hikers and mountain bikers in the Blue Mountains National Park, and it is also a popular natural playground for explorers who love adrenaline sports such as rock climbing and abseiling. Visitors who want a more tame way of exploring the Blue Mountains National Park will climb onto the Katoomba Scenic Railway’s glass-roofed carriages, which is the world’s steepest passenger railway.

Fraser Island | Tourist Hotspots In Australia

Located in Queensland, this stunning island, one of the best tourist hotspots in Australia boasts rainforests, sand dunes, more than 100 freshwater lakes, and pretty coloured cliffs of sand. Fraser Island is also known to be the world’s biggest sand island and is only a short ferry ride from Hervey Bay. Another rare claim to fame is this island; the dingoes are known to be some of the purest in all of Australia, as they have not had as many opportunities to crossbreed with dogs as their mainland cousins have had.

Great Ocean Road

One of the most stunning Australia tourist places is known to be the Great Ocean Road, situated in Victoria. This 151 miles (243 km) drive begins in Torquay, situated about 60 miles (100 km from Melbourne, and finishes in Allansford. As it continues along the spectacular southwest coastline of Victoria, the Great Ocean Path passes through some of Australia’s most breathtaking scenery, including The Twelve Apostles, which are pretty limestone stack formations that rise near Port Campbell National Park from the ocean. There are also a number of locations along the Great Ocean Path where some of the famed animals of Australia, including kangaroos, fur seals, and emus, can be seen.

Cable Beach, Broome | Tourist Hotspots In Australia

Cable Beach in Western Australia is situated in Broome and is considered by some to be the most popular destination in this province. It’s a breathtaking beach, known for its white sands, spectacular sunsets, and the Indian Ocean’s brilliant blue waters. Also, Cable Beach is famous for its beach camel rides.
