The name is Muskan, so probably was destined to spread smiles wherever I go. Writing is something which has grown on me with each passing day. Follow your passion in saying is a cliché but in doing is serious fun. So here I am to engage with my passion and maybe spread some smiles along the way.

In pursuit of a tasty curry in the Granite City? Then look no further than our list of the best Indian restaurants in Aberdeen.

Are you a follower of typical Indian cuisine? As you might be conscious, the north-east has a multitude of restaurants serving the famous cuisine.

However, for those of you who like to visit a new place or try Indian-style cuisine for the first time, we’ve made it a little simpler.

While there have been many foodie fads and trends over the years, few items remain as dear to the Scottish core as the joy of a good curry.

Thankfully, the much-loved Scottish Indian cuisine scene has held up with its culinary competitors, and we can now get our curry fix in more aspects than ever.

Aberdeen’s Indian food scene is burgeoning with fantastic pubs, eateries, and cafes, not to be outdone by its curry-crazed sister city Glasgow.

Check out our list of the best Indian restaurants in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.

  1. The Jewel in the Crown

If you ask an Aberdeen resident what their dream Indian restaurant is, you’ll possibly get a lot of responses that involve The Jewel in the Crown.

Farooq, the restaurant’s chef, is a master at combining the popular spices used in many of his recipes, which, when mixed with locally produced ingredients, produce a completely innovative take on some classic meals.

The service is outstanding (and contains heated hand towels), and the plates are typically wide enough to feed two individuals, rendering them good value.

Any of the Gosht dishes are highly recommended, particularly the lamb in this one of the best Indian restaurants in Aberdeen.

  1. Cinnamon

Cinnamon’s menu is described as “Bangladeshi & Regional Indian with a Scottish twist,” with a strong emphasis on seafood (which we love). Scottish king scallops, sea bass, trout, and lobster, as well as seasonal game, are among the dishes on the menu, all made using traditional Indian recipes.

There’s still a wide variety of vegetarian and vegan choices, as well as a “meals on wheels” programme for outdoor street food catering. The Tandoori King Prawns were amazing, and we can’t suggest them highly enough in this one of the top Indian restaurants in Aberdeen.

  1. 8848

One of the most fascinating restaurants on the list of Indian restaurants in Aberdeen, serving not only the best Indian cuisine but also the best Nepalese cuisine. The 8848 takes pleasure in modernising some of the most tasty typical Indian and Nepalese dishes.

The variety of Indian dishes suffers somewhat as a consequence of the emphasis on Nepalese cuisine, but all of the old classics are there, and the dishes we sampled were delicious.

We were particularly taken with the excellent vegetarian variety, and we couldn’t have been happier with the Machha special (monkfish cooked in the Nepalese style). It’s well worth returning to taste all forms of cuisine.

  1. Rishi’s Indian Aroma

Rishi’s, which has a position in the city’s centre, has developed such a strong reputation in the north east that it’s now spreading to Scotland’s curry capital (Glasgow).

The most remarkable part of Rishi’s is their attention to offering a high-quality vegetarian menu. Seriously, the number of recipes accessible to those who like their meals without meat is amazing.

The Medu Vada appetiser was amusing, and the Poondu Kuzhambu (traditional south Indian curry) was wonderful.

  1. Shri Bheema’s

Shri Bheema’s, which is family-owned and operated, has one of the strongest reputations of any of the restaurants in town, and has already earned many awards, including Best Indian Restaurants in Aberdeen and Best Chef.

Shri Bheema’s offers authentic South and North Indian cuisine in a chic atmosphere that retains a homey feel.

The Sanskrit word “Athiti Devo Bhava,” which means “Guest is God,” is at the core of the restaurant’s ideology – we don’t need to say anything more.

  1. Blue Moon

We were tempted to report that Blue Moon’s food is “out of this dimension,” but we won’t because that would be an apt representation of the restaurant’s menu.

Although the restaurant’s style isn’t necessarily conventional, the food is wonderful.

The rates are fair, and the dishes are well-priced. If you’re feeling bold (or just enjoy spicy food), the Naga Mirchi is a must-try. The sheer number of dishes available can inspire you, and best of all, there is a take-out choice so you can sample the dishes before walking into the restaurant.

These are some of the must try and top Indian restaurants to visit in Aberdeen. Give them a visit for sure!
