The Everest
Situated right in the heart of Aberdeen, this gem of a restaurant is known to combine Nepalese and Indian Cuisine keeping the Himalayan traditional cooking at its core. If you’re confused about what to go for first, waiters here are always encouraging for MoMos which are an authentic Tibetan dish, a rip-off version of dumplings. These are famous Nepalese street food. A main course which will blow you out of your senses is their Gorkhali chicken breast which is a lighter and sweeter curry (much preferable for those who can’t handle Asian spices). Their absolutely hooking dish is Tirsuli Maccha which goes without mention. A coconut and creamy yoghurt with small chunks of monkfish. Everest restaurant is definitely a traditional Indo-Nepalese cosy retreat.

One of the most fascinating restaurants on the list of Indian restaurants. It serves not only the best Indian cuisine but also the best Nepalese cuisine. The 8848 takes pleases in modernising some of the tastiest typical Indian and Nepalese dishes. The variety of Indian dishes suffers somewhat as a consequence of the emphasis on Nepalese cuisine, but all of the old classics are present. Makai pyaza (large onion bhajis) and Bombay spiced chilli chicken are also favoured by many here. Visitors here are taken with the excellent vegetarian variety, and couldn’t have been happier with the Machha special (monkfish cooked in the Nepalese style). Adding to its specialities is tikka masala served with yellow garlic fried rice and fries (every Scot’s favourite!). If you aren’t a big meat eater, they have a decent vegetarian menu as well. So, It’s well worth returning to taste all forms of cuisine.

Rishi’s Indian Aroma
Rishi’s is positioned on George street, one of the busiest streets in Aberdeen. A mix of authentic traditional and contemporary Indian cuisine. The price range for two happens to be around 30 GBP to 40 GBP, making it quite pocket friendly. It has developed such a strong reputation in the northeast that it’s now spreading to Scotland’s curry capital (Glasgow). The most remarkable part of Rishi’s is their attention to offering a high-quality South-Indian palate. The staff here are welcoming and courteous. The number of recipes accessible to those who like their meals without meat is amazing. The Medu Vada appetiser is amusing, and the Poondu Kuzhambu (traditional south Indian curry) is also wonderful. Moreover, their masala dosa and lamb masala are to die for!

Shri Bheema’s
Shri Bheema’s, which is family-owned and operated, has one of the strongest reputations of any of the restaurants in town, and has already earned many awards, including Best Indian Restaurants in Aberdeen and Best Chef. Shri Bheema’s offers authentic South and North Indian cuisine in a chic atmosphere that retains a homey feel. The blazing tiger prawn jalfrezi, cooked with a montage of mixed peppers and fenugreek, and the scrumptious Dum Ki Nalli, a slow braised Scottish lamb shank enhanced with Kashmiri chilli, saffron, and caramelised onions, are the ultimate succulent dishes here. Lastly to add, the Sanskrit word “Athiti Devo Bhava,” which means “Guest is God,” is at the core of the restaurant’s ideology – we don’t need to say anything more.

We are tempted to report that Blue Moon’s food is “out of this dimension,” but we won’t because that would be an apt representation of the restaurant’s menu. Situated at Holburn street, it holds the best spot near the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption. Although the restaurant’s style isn’t necessarily conventional, the food is wonderful. Blue moon will promise you perfectly cooked lamb, king prawns and mouth-watering seafood. You can pair the mentioned specialities with a cold pint of beer. If you’re feeling bold (or just enjoy spicy food), the Naga Mirchi is a must-try. The sheer number of dishes available can inspire you, and best of all, there is a take-out choice so you can sample the dishes before walking into the restaurant.

This little Indian getaway is located in the bustling area of Union Street. Usually completely full during lunch times, we will recommend you make your reservations a day prior. Wild Ginger serves a variety of Biryani, Balti, Tandoori, rice and many more mouth-watering specialities. For starters, their Mughlai kebabs should be ordered without fail and paired with thick spicy green chutney. The restaurant is known to add exotic twists to its main courses, so instead of going for the mundane tikka masala dishes, the ‘Fusion speciality’ section has some gems for sure! Wild Ginger passmeshali special is a curry which includes all types of different meats from chicken, lamb, prawn garnished with coriander. Another favourite dish is Goan tiger prawn takari which are prawns marinated in olive oil, lime juice, garam masala, garlic and ginger paste.
