DLIs is a term that an international student is bound to hear on the expedition of their study abroad phase. A lot of people will talk about it in front of you. And I don’t want you to sound alien or not know about this term. So, today I have decided to break it down for students who wish to study in Canada.
Canada is a beautiful country with the longest coastline in the world. There are plenty of reasons to study in Canada and DLIs are one of them.
What is a DLI?
A designated learning institution is a college or university that has been granted permission by a provincial or territorial government to accept foreign students.
Students pursuing undergraduate or master’s degrees must obtain a Study Permit. Candidates must obtain an approval letter from a recognised learning organisation in order to obtain a Study Permit.
A DLI number is assigned to Designated Learning Institutions (DLIs) in Canada. In order to receive a Research Permit, candidates submitting under the Student Direct Stream (SDS) programme must first obtain an approval letter from a designated learning institute.
Designated Learning Institutions (DLIs) in Canada or education providers who have been designated by their territorial or regional government as providing a Covid-19 preparation plan in effect. Except for Nunavut, the government of Canada has released a list of 1,548 DLIs in all of Canada’s provinces. Each of these organisations is carefully selected for inclusion on the list only after their proposal has been accepted.
Read on to find the list of Designated Learning Institutions (DLIs) in Canada. But first, let’s see the conditions for studying in Canada in 2021-22.
Conditions for Studying in Canada in the Course of Covid-19 in 2021-22
Why should students research in Canada while most countries have taken a step back to invite new foreign students in the pandemic? The following are the actions taken by the government to ensure that international students reach Canada safely:
- The Canadian government requires students to self-quarantine for 14 days upon entry.
- The government also launched an app called ArriveCan, which allows it to maintain records of all visitors. Students must then have all required data, including contact information and self-assessments during quarantine, through the app after arrival.
- Passengers must pass a pre-boarding health inspection administered by the airline.
- Students coming to Canada must demonstrate their fitness for health insurance benefits. They must receive private insurance (including Covid-19 coverage) before arrival in Canada if they are not insured.
- Anyone who violates quarantine laws faces a fee of up to CAD 750,000 or a six-month prison term.
