Brighton Central Library

The Central Library, located in Brighton Town Hall, is the oldest and largest library in Brighton. It’s also the main reference and research library for the city of Brighton & Hove. The Central Library is open 7 days a week (excluding Christmas Day) and has a cafe that serves snacks as well as hot meals, there’s also an adjoining children’s library with books for kids aged 0 – 7 years old.

North Laine Library

North Laine Library is located in Kensington Court in Brighton. The opening hours of the library are Monday – Friday 10 am – 7 pm, Saturday 10 am – 5 pm (April 1st – October 31st), Sunday 12 pm – 4 pm (April 1st – October 31st). The services provide visitors with books, magazines and newspapers in English, foreign language books, DVDs & videos, children’s story times and family events.

You must be aged 16 or over to apply for a library card which you can do online on the website. If you’re under 18 years old it is recommended to bring a parent or guardian along with you when applying for a card so they can sign the form too! The cost of this will vary depending on whether it’s an adult application or a child application but it should be no more than £12 per person per year (£10 plus VAT). If this sounds expensive remember that every penny spent goes back into providing better services such as improved opening times etc. So don’t worry about spending money on something like this because ultimately it benefits everyone who uses libraries regularly, including yourself!

Moulsecoomb Library

Moulsecoomb Library is located on the second floor of the Moulsecoomb Community Centre, and it’s open 7 days a week. On Mondays and Tuesdays, they close at 8 pm. They offer free wifi and computer access, as well as printing and photocopying services. There are also lots of activities for children including storytime sessions every week!

Whitehawk Library

Whitehawk Library is a community library located in the Whitehawk area of Brighton. It has a large collection of books, DVDs and CDs, free computer access, a children’s library and story time sessions, a recording studio for musicians to use, an outdoor play area for children to enjoy their time outside, as well as a cafe serving hot drinks, sandwiches, cakes and pastries.

Hollingdean Community Centre and Library

Hollingdean Community Centre and Library is located in the Hollingdean area of Brighton, which is just north of the city centre. The library has a large collection of books, DVDs and CDs for all ages. You can also use their computers for public use or take part in one of their many activities.
