Posters

How To Personalise Your University Room Without Spending Too Much

Everyone has that one thing they’re really passionate about. It could be a sports team, a movie, a band or even a celebrity. Share this passion with the (your flatmates) world by putting up posters around your room. Doing this will add a bit of your personality to your living space. But don’t invade the personal space of your flatmate, as it could lead to a scuffle. Otherwise, the only poster going up.. will be your mugshot!

Noticeboards

Most student accommodations come with a blank notice board in your room. It is up to you to personalize this little space of yours. Consider pinning pictures of your friends and family, so that you have a feeling of not being far from home. It’s not always easy to transition to a new city, let alone a country, without having your friends and family around. Having familiar faces to look at every day will keep you in good spirits and also helps to personalise your room. Other memorabilia that can go up on your board are letters, event tickets, festival lanyards, song lyrics and motivational quotes.

Fairy Lights

Everyone loves fairy lights. Even guys! I’d be remiss if I didn’t say fairy lights.. will instantly.. BRIGHTEN.. up your room! These lights come in all sorts of colours and are very affordable. Pick a colour (or colours) that matches your personality. Place them around your noticeboard or even on your bed’s headboard and watch how cosy you instantly feel. This is a great way to personalise your room.

Dream Catchers

Legend has it that these amazing pieces were hung above the beds of sleeping children to protect them from bad dreams and evil spirits. The spider web shape of these pieces would allow only the good dreams to pass through and float down the hanging beads and feathers to sleeping children. In Native American cultures, dream catchers were made of willow hoops and sinew, or cordage made from plants. But nowadays, commercially available dream catchers are made of up inexpensive materials such as certain feathers or beads. This makes dream catchers very affordable and we don’t even have to mention how beautiful they look. I mean, just look at them!

Bookshelf

Being a university student, books are going to be your best friends. So why not give your best friends a cool place to live? Most of the student accommodations on UniAcco come with a bookshelf. Anything can be personalised to hold your belongings if you get creative enough. If your bookshelf has a plain back panel, you can personalise it by adding photos into the empty spaces behind your books.

Washi Tape

If you’re just hearing about Washi Tape, thank us later. Washi Tape is an amazing Japanese invention that is completely removable and reusable. They come in all sorts of lengths, colours, patterns and designs. They are super useful for crafting, making photo frames and even acting as a makeshift removable wallpaper! Best part? Since it is made of natural fibres like hemp and bamboo, you won’t have to break the bank to buy it!
