What is SPP? You must be curious to find a source that can tell you all, that is why I am here today to help you with it. Let’s start by knowing the basics. Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) and the Association of Canadian Community Colleges (ACCC) initiated the Student Partnership Program, also known as SPP, in 2009 for Indian students in order to provide them with the maximum assistance in learning and working in Canada. The Canada Student Partners Program collaborates with the Canada High Council in India.
Did you know this was initially available only to Indian applicants? The initiative is working to streamline entry and visa procedures for foreign students interested in studying in Canada. According to a Canadian government official, the Student Partners Program is a gift for those planning to research in Canada since they no longer have to think about completing the study permit application checklist. Students can obtain a study visa easily and with little paperwork.
After its inception, there has been a significant rise in the number of Canadian visas granted to Indian students, and a substantial number of students have begun to apply to numerous advanced trade requirement-related diploma and Postgraduate diploma programs in the country.
How Does the Student Partnership Program Function?
The SPP curriculum involves approximately 40 Canadian colleges as well as many other ACCC colleges. Students who want to undertake their studies in Canada under the Student Partnership Program scheme do not need to apply separately.
Students must apply to an SPP college that participates in the system. Students’ applications are first processed by college officials, and a just determination is made depending on the documents provided by the students. If a person satisfies the admission standards of the college to which he or she has applied, he or she may be eligible for the SPP program.

College Application Procedure Under Student Partnership Program
Via an updated and revamped submission checklist, application procedures for students applying under the Students Partners Program have been simplified. To ensure that applications are processed in a timely manner, students must upload all documentation as specified in the checklists. SSP students must also consider the below points.
Pre-application medical examination:
Students must request a copy of their medical test as specified in the checklist. Students are advised to get a medical test when applying for a Study Permit. This can be achieved by consulting one of India’s designated panel physicians.
When your medical exams are completed, you will be sent a copy of your medical test form, which must be sent with your Student Partnership Program application for a research permit.
Students are recommended to wait one week after the conclusion of their medical test before sending their submission.
Documents Needed For a Pre-Medical Exam
As a part of the student GIC student program, you should bring the following papers for as you see the panel physician:
- 5 passport-sized images
- Valid passport
- A photocopy of the side of your passport that contains all of your biodata as well as your photograph
- Acceptance letter from an SPP organisation
- A signed statement stating unequivocally that all documentation requested by the checklist has been included and that the information submitted by you is correct to the best of your understanding. That you have never already been issued a Canadian research visa. That you are aware that your claim would be denied if some material evidence is misrepresented, and that you will be barred from entering Canada for a term of five years.
Please bear in mind that sending the form does not confirm anything. Both medical test fees must be met by the student and are non-refundable. Students do not make any promises before their application has been authorised. If you’ve completed the formalities, email your application to the visa office in charge of your area of residency. Students are encouraged to request their applications as soon as possible to prevent multiple delays caused by the need for file transfer.
